An award-winning fish and chip shop has been ordered to remove a Union flag mural by council officials ‘because it’s inappropriate for the area’.
Chris Kanizi, 65, who owns Golden Chippy, in Greenwich, south-east London, has been told to paint over the mural of the humanoid fish which is adored by tourists.
Greenwich council said they received a ‘number of complaints’ about the mural, which features the phrase ‘A Great British Meal’, they said was an ‘unauthorised advert’.
And here’s the oh-so offensive item in question:
Imagine a burger place in Murka being told to take down a sign which reads “The All-American Meal” because some immigrants might feel excluded.
Of course, the UK has no First Amendment, so government can do pretty much whatever the fuck it wants to do in cases like this.

What are these councils that run rampant in England? They sound like a giant Home Owner’s Association run by a bunch of nosy busy bodies. they need to be dragged through town. The quartering might go too far but they should definitely be drawn through the streets.

It’s England. The Union Jack is appropriate to display everywhere. Don’t like it then move. I can see why many of the English have no pride in their country. Their history has been devalued by irrational shrews.
It is worth remembering that all the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights are not granted by the Constitution, they are just enumerated (listed) . The rights are considered to be natural rights or God-given rights (depending on your beliefs), and they are the rights of all people. The Founders thought that by listing them it would make them harder to forget but they are not granted and they cannot be taken away. A government that infringes on those rights simply shows itself to be illegitimate.
Subject vs Citizen.
Subjects are only allowed what their officials allow them, citizens have rights regardless of what the politicians want.
Perhaps some sort of south Asian curry takeaway would be more appropriate for the area, or is it the ethnicity of the owner that makes it inappropriate? Perhaps he’s supposed to be living in a run-down fourth floor flat waiting for his monthly welfare to get deposited into his card so he can ruminate on why it isn’t more, and if he manages to save anything from month to month it can get skimmed off the top, because obviously they are overpaying him.
