Another One Goes, Suddenly

Here’s an interesting one:

Colorado House Minority Leader Hugh McKean (R) died suddenly on Sunday morning in his home.  McKean passed away from a heart attack at the age of 55, according to the Larimar County Coroner’s Office.
“It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of House Minority Leader Hugh McKean. Hugh was fiercely passionate about serving the great state of Colorado and will be missed dearly,” Colorado House Republicans shared on Twitter. “Funeral services are being planned and details will be made public once finalized.”

Living Without The Past

Much of what ails us today is a refusal to learn from the lessons of the past.  It’s called “presentism” (an actual word, not a manufactured one), and Edward Ring describes how it affects just about every aspect of our polity and society.  An excerpt:

The climate emergency, along with the inequity of white privilege, are existential threats to humanity, and therefore both require a “reset” to put things right.

To make it almost impossible for Americans to unite and stop the destruction of their way of life, in case the sacred and urgent consensus regarding climate and equity isn’t enough, Americans are also trained to hate each other. And that trope, repeated endlessly and everywhere in myriad iterations, goes like this: If you are a member of the heteropatriarchy, you are an oppressor. If you’re not, you’re a victim.

Of course, the entire narrative must be questioned because it’s all a pack of lies.

Which it is.  Read the whole thing;  it’s excellent.

Lies And More Lies

You’ve all seen pictures of the falling level of water in Lake Mead, right?

And read reports of skeletal remains being found as the waters recede?

And that all this is because of climate change, via lower rainfalls, snowfalls, etc.?

Well, only the first two are factual.  The third is an outright lie.  “Climate change” has nothing to do with Lake Mead’s water level dropping, because the main suppliers of water to the lake (rain runoff and snowmelt) have not in fact decreased but remained constant.

And some smart guys have the real answer to the problem.  Read all about it here.

Follow The Science

From the mouth of President Biden:

…which, if my trusty old math brain still works (oy), would mean that the 5.56mm poodleshooter comes out of Biden’s AR-15 barrel at 22,750 feet per second, by comparing it to the similarly-sized .22-250 Remington bullet (4,550 FPS).

The actual muzzle velocity of the 5.56mm bullet is, as we all know, about 3,250 fps.

So President Brain-Dead was exaggerating by a factor of seven, or flat-out lying, or he was just in his customary state of senile dementia.  All three combined, of course, cannot be ruled out.
