I am so sick of the word “gender” being used to mean “sex”. I actually substitute “sex” in my head whenever I read the word “gender”. Just as I substitute “he” whenever I see the singular “they”.
Three genders (grammar), two sexes (biology), and they’re not inter-changeable.
